Five metrics every multi-discipline clinic should track

A starting point for clinic owners who want a clearer, ongoing view of performance without building a spreadsheet from scratch every month.

Not sure where to start with clinic analytics? These five are simple enough to track today and useful enough to keep watching.

  1. Utilization by practitioner and room. How much of the available time was booked, not just how many visits happened. It’s usually the fastest way to find room to grow without hiring.

  2. Cancellation and no-show rate. A rising trend is often the first sign of a scheduling, reminder or patient-experience problem, well before it shows up in revenue.

  3. Revenue per practitioner, by payer. Totals hide a lot. Splitting by practitioner and payer (MSP, extended health, ICBC, WorkSafeBC, private pay) shows where a clinic is resilient and where it’s exposed.

  4. New versus returning patients. Healthy total volume can hide a retention problem that grows every month.

  5. Time to bill and outstanding claims. Slow billing ties up cash. Track it every month, not only when something goes wrong.

None of these need a data team. They do need your scheduling and billing data in one place, every month, without someone rebuilding the report by hand. That’s what Datafore is built to do for allied health clinics in BC.
